Amusan breaks African 60m hurdles record in Astana

Tobiloba Amusan, Nigeria’s 2022 world 100m hurdles champion, set a new personal best in Astana after winning the women’s 60m hurdles final in a record time of 7.77 secs.

Nigerian track star Tobiloba Amusan achieved a personal best time of 7.77 seconds to secure victory in the women’s 60m hurdles final at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold event, which began in Astana, Kazakhstan on Saturday.

Amusan, who was crowned the 2022 World 100m Hurdles Champion, erased Glory Alozie’s indoor record of 7.82 seconds set in Madrid in 1999.

After a strong showing in the heats with a time of 7.91, She powered through the second half of her race to secure victory in the final.

Amusan outpaced USA’s two-time world indoor 60m hurdles champion Nia Ali, who finished second in 7.89 seconds, and Ireland’s Sarah Lavin, who also set a personal best with a time of 7.91 seconds in third place after clocking 7.93 in the heats.
